NJ Needlefest a Labor of Love

Life at the shop has been busier than ever.  If there aren't weekly posts its a sign of so much happening.  Preparing for Needlefest and Back to Basics along with the norm adds up to no idle time!  But the canvases have been flowing in, over 40 new ones since I've last added to the online store.  Below are just the ones from Labors of Love.  More to come ~ especially in love with the new one's I've received by Tapestry Fair.
Summer Blossoms by Labors of Love $252.
Saturday the 27th was the 2nd annual NJ Needlefest attended by over 125, max capacity.  It was a wonderful day meeting and getting to learn what excites stitchers.  My best selling online items such as better buddies, books by June McKnight, and of course painted canvases.  Didn't sell a single one but still sold about 3 days worth of sales equal from my brick and mortar shop.  Diversity is key.  Whatever it is that you love love love to stitch, its not across the board.  Many charted pieces sold and tools of all sorts.  I had to laugh to myself; event went from 9:30 to 4:30 and after about 5 hours my husband said isn't anybody going to leave soon?  Not until the lights go out can you get a stitcher to think about packing up.  Susan Hoekstra did an amazing job to have this successful event that from my perspective went off flawlessly.

All of the above are in stock and ready to ship.  Need threads too?  Just ask!  Click on the caption for buying info.

Small Projects and Large Count Kits

I've paired up some threads to go along with a few small project canvases; including large count pieces too. Barbara Bergsten's squares are a good way to learn a few basic stitches on a 10 count canvas. It won't  take long before you can apply your newly learned skills onto something bigger.  Coordinating flip flops are on 13 count.  See below for a Strawberry kit, a nice piece for a child with an urge to stitch.  Ive paired it up with Watercolour's for a soft hand and nice colors but if your on a budget its offered in the online store for $27.00 including acrylic yarns.  The Strawberry crewel kit is right out of 70's, cheerful and homey with a price tag of $14.00.  Lastly a cute penguin ornament complete with embellishments like the new flat back sew on sequins and glass hearts by Millhill.

Customer's Work, Plus More!

Within days of my first post I received two more pictures, it's always nice to see projects completed and framed.  The moored boat stitched was stitched by Mary who selected the piece when SharonG came to the shop for a canvas embellishment/enhancement class.  I recall the colors of the water are Cresent Colors Belle Soie which has some simply amazing saturated colors.

Along the lines with beautiful blues is the charted piece below by Abby.  I want to find out what thread the brightest blue is, if only I could recall how we switched up the colors on this.  I'll find out the designer, I really like how its not "squared" off.
Charted / Counted Needlepoint

Time to share some work by my faithful customers, first 3 by Eileen.  Eileen and I have never met as she's in Ca and I'm in NJ but we've become kindred spirits and its a joy to work together.

Limp on a Limb, Charley Harper

Zecca Tea Cozy who's argyle became stripes.  Back is quilted purple!

By Maggie, and the Frame undoubtably by Lisa Krause

This one's by Jody, a piece by Leigh.  Beautifully stitched and at Marlene's being made into a pillow.

Below is a Brazilian Work using all Edmar Rayon threads. Ground fabric hand loomed linen twill by Phillipa Turnbull.  Designer, I don't know.  Stitched by Marguerite from Australia.

Tried and true basket weave using Vineyard Classic, stitched by Dottie.
International Frog by Edie and Ginger

Three remarkable tallis bags.  First is for a special young lady Lily stitched by her Bubbe.  Lily picked the colors herself, very different from the original.  Background is all done in Vineyard Shimmer.
Lee Needlearts Tallit Bag
Below are two Tallis bags stitched by the fearless Eliane.  Both are for her Great Grandchildren, doing the math you'll figure out that Eliane will never be too old to stitch!

Both by Susan Roberts

Lastly is this adorable frog waiting to be kissed.  I think its a great idea for some of those 5" rounds that are too big for ornaments.  I don't know the designer of the canvas.
